Fun time at the Midway quilt festival. My little personal assistant Gwendolyn

 sits nicely next to any work place holding your readers, pins, and other sewing needs.

She understands the need for quilters to have things close by.

This sweet little backpack was inspired by my little granddaughter Autumn.

I remember packing my pajamas to go to grandmas and want her to have the same special memories.

So that is how the name came to be...

Introducing a collaborative effort called (fanfare please) 

"Three Clever Chicks".

My good and creative friends Annie Smith and Anne Jacobson will join with me to form this new trio. 

We are really excited to work together!  Creativity feeds off of creativity! 

Annie created the first podcast (ever) for quilters. It is called"Quilting Stash" and it really inspired me to begin Wendy L. West Designs.  Anne is the creator of Light Heart Arts with a sweet pattern for "Bundles of Joy" and many other clever projects and patterns.Check out their websites, blogs and the our website for Three Clever Chicks.

I feel SUPER excited about creating things!!! I am heading out to Mid Way for Quilt Festival in October and then then I am off to the International Quilt Mart and Festival in Huston Texas. Yummy warm oatmeal cookies with a maple syrup drizzle.
This will put a smile on after school kiddos.
Another bonus is makes you home SMELL AMAZING!!!
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup butter (Softened)
4 eggs
2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 cup of raisins (Only if your kiddos want them).
Preheat over to 350
Line parchment on cookie sheets
In mixer, cream sugar and butter.
Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, soda, salt, oatmeal, and raisins.
Drop by large rounded tablespoonfuls onto parchment paper.
Bake for 8 to 9 minutes.
Drizzle the tops with maple syrup icing.
To make drizzle:
2 cups powder (Confectioner) sugar
2 tablespoons softened butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon maple flavoring more if needed to taste
2 tablespoons orange juice add a little at a time till the icing drizzles off the end of a fork.
Drizzle on top of your yummy warm cookies.
I roll my cookies in granulated sugar before I press them and bake them.

Have a good time watching the smiles come over there faces after a day of school.
